Find the right technique for you with our step-by-step methods below, and never put off changing your duvet cover again. Each method has been Boll & Branch-tested, and all take under five minutes from start to finish.
The Boll & Branch Method
Perfected by our in-house experts, it’s a favorite method for how uncomplicated, quick and memorable it is.
Step 1
Lay your duvet insert flat on your bed.
Step 2
Then, gather your duvet cover at the head of your bed with the bottom of the cover open and facing up.
Step 3
Reach in and attach the top corner ties of your cover to the coordinating top corner loops of your insert. (All Boll & Branch duvet covers and duvet inserts are thoughtfully designed with these essential details.)
Step 4
Slip the cover toward the bottom of your insert, and attach the coordinating bottom corner ties and loops.
Step 5
Secure the bottom of your cover with its zipper closure, and shake out to achieve its optimal fluff. (When designing our duvet covers, we considered every detail, and all Boll & Branch covers have a hidden zipper closure.)
The Traditional Method
This straightforward method is one of the most popular and commonly used methods. However, some people miss one simple step—turning the duvet cover inside out at the beginning—which will cut your bed-making time significantly.
Step 1
Lay your duvet insert flat on your bed.
Step 2
Turn your duvet cover inside out and lay it over the top of your insert. (Make sure the opening of your cover is at the bottom of your bed.)
Step 3
Then, tie the top corner ties of your cover to the coordinating top corner loops of your insert.
Step 4
Starting at the opening, reach your hands inside the cover and flip it right side out.
Step 5
Slip the cover toward the bottom of your insert, holding the cover in place as you shake it out.
Step 6
Next, attach the bottom corner ties of your cover to the coordinating bottom corner loops of your insert.
Step 7
Lastly, secure the bottom of your cover with its zipper closure, and evenly fluff by holding it from the bottom corners and shaking it out.
The California Roll Method
Also known as the burrito method, this method can seem a bit complicated at first, but is quite simple. It’s also a great way to keep bed-making fun.
Step 1
Lay your duvet cover flat on your bed, inside out, with the opening at the foot of your bed.
Step 2
Next, place your duvet insert over the top of your cover, and secure the interior corner ties of your cover to the coordinating corner loops of your insert.
Step 3
Starting at the head of your bed, roll up your insert and cover together toward the foot of your bed.
Step 4
Once at the foot of your bed, take the opening of your cover and pull it right side out around the “roll”, and secure it with your cover’s zipper closure.
Step 5
Then, unroll the duvet towards the head of your bed by gently pulling the roll apart and shaking it out as you go.
Step 6
Lastly, evenly fluff your duvet by holding it from the bottom corners and shaking it out.
